Get to Know Charlene...
Charlene is a single mother to her twelve-year-old son, a full-time secondary school teacher, and founder of Father to the Fatherless.
The past twelve years for Charlene have been some of the most challenging, frustrating, and overwhelming lows but it's also been the most jubilant, euphoric blessed-filled highs. In 2008, Charlene gave birth to her son, and it became apparent during the pregnancy, that this was not going to be the pregnancy and birth she had always imagined, dreamed, or hoped for - instead she would be a single mother.
Father to the Fatherless was birthed when Charlene was crying out to God in despair. During her alone time, she was being honest and frank that this single parenting life was hard, she felt hurt, frustrated, and lonely. God pointed her to Psalms 68:5 which said He is a “Father to the fatherless, defender of widows— this is God, whose dwelling is holy.” And that’s what Charlene stands on. If her son’s biological father could not be present - God would be the Father to the Fatherless.
Charlene wants to use her Father to the Fatherless platform, website, and podcast to share how her relationship with Jesus and her Heavenly Father has helped her in her journey through single parenthood. She knows single parenting is hard and can be even more challenging when you’re Christian single parent battling with feelings of guilt, shame, and condemnation but the bible says in Romans 8:1 “there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.” and she knows that this applies to Christian single mothers as well. Charlene believes that it’s essential that no matter the mother’s marital status she knows that “Children are a gift from the Lord” â€â€Psalms‬ â€127:3‬.
Charlene intends to share as honestly and transparently her experiences as a Christian single mother as well as encourage other single mothers that with God they can get through this challenging but rewarding season.
